Lover's Tale

Lover's Tale

Start with eighteen thousand days;
add six hundred sixteen more;
then take four million moments …
and, tally up the score.
The number comes to fifty-one;
(as in years of marital bliss).
We walked our path together …
t’was not a game of “hit or miss”.

We were children when we started …
would raise seven along the way.
Eighteen grands and ten great-grands
have joined the ranks up to today.
Six-hundred-sixty thousand,
four hundred eighty hours,
we have spent on our life’s journey,
(some in sunshine … some in showers).

Two-hundred-thirty-eight million (doubled)
were the beats of our two hearts;
Now, with half our journey over,
the best part finally starts.
We have lived, in love, together;
we have served our Master well.
Now, it’s time to reminisce …
then, live the next half of our tale!
