With a Rule In Her Head

With a Rule In Her Head

She had me, confused, but with a rule in her head
I had responded earlier, fresh out of bed as I was
She’s still angry about something, best said and soon
A tune plays in the coffee shop we inhabit
Like circus music, but with a poignant moral pop

This freedom to talk may take awhile
But with fewer denials than if we had waited
