Silly World

Silly World

Let there be no mistake
it is you I am talking to now.

Unlimited benefits of the doubt
I’ve offered you.

Gave you a face, a heart, a personality
and a care I don’t extend to everyone.

I made you into something you are not.
Although you may have tried to be it,
you failed and I was wrong.

And you embarrassed me.
Kept me waiting.
Debased me.
And used up your brownie points.

And now I must
not pass this way

Until I feel low and used and ugly

And that’s when the shit will fly
once more.

You’ll have life again.
And I’ll be an idiot again
for believing you ever even cared.

Silly me.
Silly world.
