What ended me.

What ended me.

You smiled at me, and I was caught off guard
Struck helpless by the lightning in your gaze
My friends ignored, dismissed as much too hard,
Although they warned me of your errant ways-

You smiled at me, and hope breathed in my lungs
And they expanded with a sordid bliss
A burst of unrequited passion neatly hung
Within my heart, though never would we kiss-

You smiled at me, you made my senses flinch
Upon the very mention of your name
And I have not seen life the same way since
Nor can I turn back to a path mundane-

For within you, my dreams begin and end
You smiled at me, and thus, I am condemned-

"Count your blessings that I can''t rely on you." ~Shirley Manson
