With no regrets I spite myself
For short changing my kids
Instead of two parents loving and kind
They have me
Struggling to get by
Tired and worn out
Hoping to just make it through the day
I had envisioned
Their dad playing
And zoo trips
Walks in the evening to get ice cream
And a tickle fest before bed
Their dad would scare the monsters away
Put them on his shoulders so they could see
What there little legs wont let them
Instead of visitation, separation, and aggrevation
Instead of hostile moods
And phony friendly conversations
I only wanted to take responsibility for my actions
Actions that I was not old enough to understand
That their needs to be more than
Love between a woman and a man
Because I did love
I loved with all my heart
