the thunder rumbling outside does nothing
to drown out the thoughts rampaging through my head
unclear thoughts
chaotic nothings rambling behind my eyes
between my ears
a cloud of hungry locusts
closing in on my sanity
no two thoughts the same
no way to grasp one for long enough to decipher it
pieces of a jigsaw puzzle with no picture to follow
thousands of haystacks but no needle
i'm lost in a sea of darkness
no way to tell up from down
voltures circling but there is no food to be found
no central point to focus on
miles and miles of open fields
with no sun to tell east from west
north from south
then suddenly the sun emerges
the thunder is gone
the locusts move on
the voltures break formation and soar away
there is no evidence of what has just transpired
nothing but the faint rattling behind my eyes
between my ears
