Lost Love

Lost Love

So long ago seems that night,
That lovers met beneath the stars,
Not knowing if it was worth the fight,
Or all the battle scars.
It felt so wrong and yet so right,
Being held there in your arms,
Lying there, you holding me tight,
I saw past all your charms.
In those deep, twinkling eyes i did see,
The dreams and wishes they held,
Was there a place in them for me,
Where our two hearts could meld.
I see now what we could have had,
And what we let slip away,
But stories of loss are always sad,
For us, why should it be any other way.
And so, my love, our lives go on,
We must do what we have to do,
I pray that I am where I belong,
But life won't ever be the same, knowing it's without you.
