It’s only science,
Things get heavier,
Weighing down the lighter things.
“It’ll drop soon,” the doctor tells her.
Then tomorrow, it will all drop.
“She’s too weak to carry it,” they said.
“It’s too heavy.”
“He shouldn’t have done it,”
They say, “I told him.”
And they did tell him, too.
He should have known he shouldn’t do it,
He knows better, or so we thought.
And her, impregnated by his greed,
Conceived in purity, damaged by sin.
She falls on his floor,
Belly-heavy, weeping.
“She can’t take it,” they said,
“It’s too heavy.”
