Spread Your Wings

Spread Your Wings

Spread your wings my precious one
you’re all grown up, my teaching’s done.
Letting go is hard to do
I leave life’s lessons there for you.
I’m here to catch you if you fall
I’ll help you break that hard brick wall.
I’ll try to guide you when you ask
to help you face your chosen task.
The brick wall only slows the pace
in sorting out the human race.
Stare at this wall that hinders you
and then decide what you should do.
If you turn right to find the end,
is this the path full of pretend?
If you turn left do you see light,
or just another journey’s plight?
Why not choose center, burrow through
Create a door designed by you.
Just take a breath and walk right in
a new life’s journey can begin.
Each step you take will be your own,
each venture won means you have grown....
The day will come when you will wed
then life is shared by two instead.
And later on you will be blessed
with children and a new life’s test.
You’ll watch them grow and one day say
my precious child now comes the day…
Go spread your wings my precious one
you’re all grown up, my teachings done.
