So Sayeth The Heart

So Sayeth The Heart

The facade came down because I grasped too tighly
What happened to confidence? I don't know rightly
Or my suave, cool and debonaire bachelor ways
I've not been the same for years, months or days

My casual, cordial, pleasant me
Morphed into some total castastrophe
For assuming cordial and casual fun
Was something more than when it had begun

Only difference in that tug-of-war affiliation
Was a distance-closeness-aggravation
and a which is it now that we were sharing?
Distance, closeness or genuine caring?

Without a business, cordial, casual Grace
No idea what had brought us to that there place
No coordinates or wishes upon some bright star
Could explain to me what we had experienced so far

So I decided not to ask or to talk if she wouldn't
To allow her to initiate, but as a woman she couldn't
Equality of convenience; she never really cared
Never knew how I was doing or how my efforts really fared

So I dusted my face off and its casual wonder
I found antidotes to the wicked, wicked spell I was under
And in the process I found unloving hurts like hell
I'll never fully learn how to do this all that well

'Seems I'll never master the process of only loving someone in part
Because - when you love, love fully - so sayeth, the heart
