Singularly, Silently

Singularly, Silently

What do I know of you?
What do you know of me?
Precisely what we want to know
And nothing in between

Why do I care for you
And why would you care for me?
For duty and humanity
But no thing personally?

Why have I felt for you
Have you ever felt for me?
so we can turns our backs
on one another eventually?

What is this thing called
casual, cordial clinical love?
and distancing oneself
from the binding force we're made of?

And why won't words help?
or a gesture between us two
to show that the depth we shared
is paramount to me and you?

Silence is golden
and waiting is bliss
and we'll never admit to one another
it's the warmth, the feeling the caring we miss

So never call that love again?
Deny we shared our lives?
Focus upon moving forward?
Upon which progress truly thrives?

What do I know of you?
What do you know of me?
That once upon a time
life put us in each other's way
temporarily

So I go on asking questions
of what of you and me
as i continue on my life's journey
singularly
silently
