Wanting to Know

Wanting to Know

Do you remember the days when I tried to peep
into you - you
would simply walk away and say
"There's nothing to know".

What to say now when no words convey
meaning that is pertinent to your
inner world
yo-yo man, always up and down
I have reached the end of my tether.

What to say when you can not see
the multitude of pains that constitute
continual disappointment
and an endless pile of paper without a home.

What to say when you sleep away the day, head
twisted, knees bent on the green couch
rising in the night to stare into the box of
misleading sounds, images moving ever closer
to annihalation

I no longer peep or even glance
for fear of spotting that glimmer
tiny spark of life that intrigues me
makes me want to know
