Of Freckles and Moans

Of Freckles and Moans

The only darkness in the room is
The navy blue nighttime peeking in.
Candles coat and fragment the expanse of bed,
Lapping light on the walls.

Bra kept on, too much else
To consider - a sparkle from her eyes
Noticeable only without
The glow from warm pudding skin.

This is how I feel love -
A delayed quickening, a long, lush breath out.
The humming on all sides
Envelopes, crashes over.

I glide to the surface
Connecting with the freckle
On her upper left arm;
A hint of laughter, of melting ice and earthliness.

“I will hold you
While another living dream
Wraps around our every day.”
She kisses my feet, my ascension instruments.
