The Music Box

The Music Box

I’m scratching and scrabbling at the door,
I can stand this blasted music no more,
Anything to break free,
To escape this accursed song that leaves me in disdain,
I must get away from the mistake I had made,
Impossible though it seems because I’ve already brought pain,
So long ago it seems,
When I still had foolish dreams,
When she gave me a music box to let me sleep at night,
But now after my choice to tear her apart,
This poisonous music box is only a reminder of her broken heart,
For you my angel her words rang true,
My response…a whole hearted I love you,
But as all men are to fall to greed,
I never once thought though that it would be me,
I took it for granted to have such a sweet soul,
Burned it to dust and turned her heart cold,
So now here I sit with this song stuck playing in my head,
Such a sweet symphony fills my heart with dread.
