Our Last Goodbye

The days have been so lonely
With you lying in your hospital bed.
All I do is sit here and think
Of the life that we once had.

We grew up together as children
Together we were as one.
Running and playing in the field
The wind at our backs, our faces to the sun.

We got married, as everyone said we would
Oh, how our life and love grew.
Nothing could ever come between us
And then our family started to grow.

Our children are going to miss their mother
I can hear them talk at night.
They wonder how a woman so young
Could face and lose life's fight.

I know that in a few days it will all be over
I will sit by your bed and cry.
Leaning over to kiss your lips
And giving each other, our last good-bye.
