Two Pennies

Two Pennies

There she stood behind the counter

I placed my order

She blinked and green eyes flashed

I reached out with my total

She reached out with her hand

Her long red hair brushed against my wrist

Two pennies were dropped into my palm

I stared into her eyes

She smelled good amongst the scent of burgers

She blinked again those green eyes

I was holding up the line

That was love at first sight for me

But it was forgotten in the days other events

Until years later

I recalled it in my mind's eye

Now she blinks and I kiss her forehead

She still gives me her two cents

And so much more

If my halo fell it would become a noose. Luckily my horns hold it up!
