Unpeeled

Unpeeled

I feel undone
Obvious and unpainted
Floating in a monochrome foreign film
Of strangers and friends
Struggling to breathe
Beneath all these sheets of ordinary
While hidden inside
Is something simply extraordinary
A maze waiting to be deciphered
Red in the middle of all this grey
Soft and uninhibited
Luscious and unpeeled
Choking on the very definition
Of my own name
