The Heart's Engima

As the wind in the trees seemed to sigh,
and the rain in the sky seemed to cry,
my awful thoughs i ceased to ponder,
I decided at once,"Nevermore."

At once wailing wind turned to listen,
and the rain gave hark and did glisten,
to my heart did the devils quit sunder,
but for what better cause, I implore?

'Stead with demons, my heart filled with joy,
from these feelings my mind was not coy,
All my grief and my pain torn asunder,
for my wife i would no longer mourn!

My action did demons applaud,
wind and rain, by my courage, were awed
"his life," thought some, "he did squander"
for my action did many abhor.
