mega-mansions and sharks

mega-mansions and sharks

In this protected preserve,
lucky leaves leave tree trunks bare
and ascend across lucky limbs and branches,
for better access
to sun and air.

In this cozy kitchen garden,
radiant rays of sunlight provide the spark.
The recipe is photosynthesis.
The reward is as succulent and supple as the sweetest kiss.

In these virgin woods,
mighty Mountain Ash grow long and lean,
flaunting the most magnificent montage of green
that you have ever seen.

In these pillaged forests
centuries-old families
of Blackbutts, Cuttails and Silky Oaks
lay lifeless and prone,
axed without conscience,
to support a culture of flamboyance,
where mega-mansions mean more
than the disruption of nature’s balance.

Soon there will be little shelter
from the Sun’s simmering swelter
and the exposed Earth’s surface temperature,
will continue to rise and rise and rise…

Then we will seek refuge in the ocean…
With the sharks.
