Death would be sweeter

Death would be sweeter

It was you that broke my heart
It was you right from the start
Breathing promises to me I would never see
Now your gone, and still you won't let me be
Tears soak my pillow every night
I shudder as the sun begins to stir
Knowing even in the light of day still things dig in my soul as a burr
Now would I turn cold?
Arms once warm and ready to hold, now gone
Gone
But you left the pieces behind
I suppose that was kind
Perhaps I could find a way to put them together again
No, I could not, it would be a sin
For you dealt me a terrible lot
And now what have I but the shards you left me
Bereft am I
