Emotional Extermination

Emotional Extermination

My heart has expired, but yet beats on
Merely machanical, for all feeling has gone
With each contraction my blood still flows
Sustaining a soul, long dead, Lord knows

For what is the value of living cells
When my heart resides in the depths of Hell
Decaying tissue is all that remains
Of a true heart - once free of all pains

Battered and broken by so many foes
Withered and dead because of its woes
No one came forward to ease its strife
All alone to suffer through this sad life

No knight in shining armor came to rescue me
To salvage my soul, from pain set me free
So here I sit with this beating heart
Damaged and empty, torn all apart

It's perpetual rhythm affords me no peace
Dead inside, yearning for it to cease
Worthless is a heart as emotionless as mine
But once it stops beating - I'm sure I'll be fine
