The Proposal

The Proposal

This man wants more that she will give
To taste life fully while they still live
She says no, he says yes
She says east, he says west

I feel no common ground is found
While he speaks, she hears no sound
Try and try as he might
There'll be no love for him this night

I feel sorry for this man, he is so sad
With no marriage involved, his proposal is bad
Being alive is not a pass free
No excuse for guile, or amorous gluttony
