For Blade (Our mascot in Iraq)

For Blade (Our mascot in Iraq)

He limps along the daily streets
Annoying everyone he meets
He slowly hobbles to your feet
Until you give him food to eat

I saw him every afternoon
With 3 good legs and bullet wounds
His life this world would soon consume
Like the overwhelming life typhoon

The ugliest creature the world has known
But there’s beauty inside these broken bones
Into our hearts that mutt has grown
I can’t believe that Blade is gone

He’d come around us everyday
With legs outstretched
He’d watch us play
But when I saw him yesterday
Decomposing quickly as he lay

He could not dodge or duck or dive
Into a truck he would collide
Just maybe it was suicide
No more pain for Blade... since he has died
