What We Did to Mom

What We Did to Mom

We agreed to put Mom on a respirator today
She needed to breathe, no matter the way
Although she detests all those machines
She needed oxygen, no matter the means
Emphysema is the cause of her plight
Hope this isn't the end of her fight
She has suffered through so many years
Today brought realization to all our fears
"Do what you have to, I don't want to die"
So say she, "not ready for goodbye"
Praise our Lord, there's still some spunk left
She's not willing to leave us alone and bereft
Please dear God, make my Mom get well
For if she goes to Heaven, I'll be in hell

****This really happened today. If you pray, please spare a single moment for my Mom. Thank you for your kindness.
