A girl my age
my height
stands before me
looks just like me
except
she's grey,

her hair dark grey
her skin
unhealthy pale,
smiles an evil grin
back at me;
I'm scared.

I cry and
she mocks me
I scream and
she screams back

I try to run
faster than her
but she is always
right at my side

I can't hide from her.
Whenever I look over
she's always staring back.
What is she waiting for?

I cry again;
a grimace crosses her face
then she stands straight
and laughs.

I am on my knees
not knowing what I should do
and she keeps standing there,
laughing, joking, mocking....

I pick up a grey stone
and she follows suit.
I throw it at her
as hard as i can--

the mirror that was
standing before me
shatters and
falls to the ground.
