baby talk

baby talk

was the only word she knew
yet when tears flew
from wells in her innocent eyes,
they spoke eloquently
of hunger and violence
eclipsed by disgust and rage
at those who warrantless wars wage
with tabs in the trillions,
unfazed by the demise of millions,
cleansed from distant regions of the earth,
plagued by the sting of death,
needing only nets
to save precious lives
that babies might someday say,

“Thank you!”...
