She Who Became Bane

She Who Became Bane

She who became bane
With the wrong man has lain
Once welcome at any inn
To look upon her, now a sin
The letter A sewn on her clothes
Is a testament to her woes
Enforced upon her by zealous fools
Who don't condone breaking their rules
If for a moment she had thought
She and he would ever be caught
Never would she have dared the deed
Her growing belly, proof of his seed
A young woman once employed as a maid
For a moment of bliss has dearly paid
Refusing to name the sire of her child
Has left her labeled loose and wild
The telling letter she is forced to wear
Evidence of the bastard she'll bear
Ignored by all, the father included
Has left her mind sick and deluded
The babe within, will surely pay
If mother decides that this is the day
To remove herself from this earth
For not to one soul, does she have worth
