Patchy orange dusk
The remnants of hot winds strewn about
Thoughts of summer flings that would never be

Musty air fills my lungs
Chased with ambivalent grief
Need I not desire such things?

And what will come of the near-life experiences
That flitted by
Laughing as they passed me

Wasted hours and seasons
Are my fate
Are my demise

I fear not the passage of time
Nor defeat by my enemies
I fear only regret itself

Cold winds are coming as August departs
Change is constant
Yet here is where I will constantly remain

Dreams once dreamed by me
Are now dancing with the breeze
Under someone else’s eyes

While my own eyes are somber and tired
The incompletion of my life
Is becoming evident in this waning eternal moment
