we were perfect, it meant nothing

we were perfect, it meant nothing

I saw your eyes following from across the hall

A passing that told more than words ever could

There was a sensation in the way you stare

I know you're in my arms tonight before we even say hello

You can't see my face past the hair in my eyes

But you know that you're in for a treat

Some tainted allure that you cannot comprehend

It's a game I play, and baby you're next

I touch your hand

You grab my face

I fail to flinch

You hit the wall

From the moment I saw you

We went terminal velocity

Running so fast from the truths we know

That I was never your best bet

The things I say

The words I use

They're nothing more

Than fire to your fuse

I'm reading you like the book you are

Open wide for the first mind ready

The Braille of your body tells the story

How you were never ready for this

I'll be your world

Everything you ever thought you needed

The author of your book

As your every move is calculated by my touch

But you are just another name on my list

A different face for a different day

The looks I give say you mean everything

Still you don't know who else I use like you

You have a face

I have a face

You have a hand

It rests in mine

I am your world

You're just a girl

You play my games

I play my part

I have a hole

You have a heart

And every rule

I never break

It keeps me safe

From making a mistake

And then one day

So far away

When you look back at who we were

You will see

I gave you everything

But you meant nothing to me

No you meant nothing to me

As the days then carry on

The perfect us

A portrait drawn

With painters only taking breaks

When I am fooling someone else

I touch your hand

You touch my face

I fail to flinch

You hit the wall

For I am ready for today

I am not steady in this game

And I can see in you

There's something wrong with this

Maybe you deserve to be

Everything you saw in me

If we pretend that I am yours

That life is faithful

But life's not faithful

We were perfect

But it didn't mean a thing to me

The puzzle pieces fit so tight

Like lovers built based on first sight

The owners of a paradise

Yeah we were perfect

But it didn't mean a thing to me
