curious but shy

curious but shy

Nudged by curiosity,
my qui ve ring index
reached out
and touched two
wayward strands
of her silky black hair
as she slept,
gently teasing
them from the lids
of her eyes
that I might,
with racing pulse,
more clearly see
this beauty rare
yet so very natural
that I am tempted
to brush a kiss
onto her precious lips…

But I resist,
‘cause
though I’m oh so curious…
I’m still so very shy.
