I Am

I Am

I am,

Society's target for ridicule and laughter,
Fingers point carelessly my way
Crushing my hopes, dreams and goals.
Innocents snatched away within an eye blink.
Imagination not even left behind for me.

The community plague is my alias,
Whispered all around the neighborhood.
Slut, tramp, and names that is unspeakable,
Wrote on all restroom walls and doors;
Drunk beyond recognition, crawling across the floor.

Was it depression or a mental defect,
That led me to this dreadful end?
Sitting, waiting alone with pen and pad,
Pondering where my ending begins.
If only the pretenders were my true friends.

Then maybe I wouldn't be the way "I am".
