Her image graced the centerfold
of Glamour;
her wit, the coveted column
of Time.

How then
could her lip’s aftertaste
so toxic
spill,
her carnal cues
so sublime,
me
thrill?

I resolved
to elegize in verse
someday...

Someday's here.
