Whirlpool

Whirlpool

Painful melodies swirl
in the aching, constricted
veins of my body.
My heart pumps
haunting, graceful notes
that mourn the loss
of love's fresh breath of air.
Each intake now draws in
the bitterness of a quiet song,
its rich sweet music
fading into silent remorse,
drowning in complicated pathways,
lost in the eddying whirlpool
of my life's flowing blood.

~What is cherished most is what must be the hardest fought for~
