foolish prudence

foolish prudence

How clever they were
those lies disguised in solemn truth suits
with matching ties,
witnesses too…

Armed with Krazy glue,
they stuck conspicuously
like a superstar’s posse
sealing the crevices of our delicate union…

Goodbye kisses,
hello hugs,
they blurred my vision,
beguiled my soul,
I swallowed every line told
‘cause the truth, cold and undressed,
seemed unbearable…

Yet even clever lies,
however solemnly disguised,
glare in hindsight
at the prudent mind….

But I am such a fool!!!

(James G.D. Paul)
