spring break

spring break

She piques my fancy each Spring
with the delicate brush of jasmine
served lento on
a silky lei
of purple petals
dipped in myrrh.

And I feel a twinge of jealousy
for the Ombre maxi
customized to caress her sonsy,
O! Sooo gently,
down to its caramel core.

I hastily sweep my drool
under the shade of propriety
as voodoo drums rumble
dissension in my loins.

A cosmopolitan, no doubt,
wont to comely indulgence
not the tribal lascivity
of a commoner.

I cater to her every whim
as any astute bellhop would.

And though we stand worlds apart,
we soon gyrate to
the erotic euphony of my illusion;
our differences
temporarily dismissed
in a tempest of primitive prurience
as purple petals
flutter in the wind.

(James G.D. Paul)
