Missed Laughs

Missed Laughs

When will you realise this thing you've begun
When will your heart tell you what you have done?
Of course you don't see the tears from your boys
You've passed it all by, by giving them toys
Have you not thought about your childhood days
How your father helped you in so many ways
I remember the stories you told me yourself
I saw all the books up on the shelf
Memories you shared of when you were nine
Of father and son growing in time
But five years on and you still don't see
That this has nothing to do with me
I've watched them grow and seen their tears
You've missed all their laughs in their golden years
Could you not stop and see who you are?
Let the father in you touch your heart
Have you ever thought of how it could be
To grow with your children, your family
