No Redemption

No Redemption

I wake up in the night
From my dark and lonely dream
To the sound of wind chimes weeping.
I turn on a little light
So the darkness will not seem
To be the only friend I am keeping.

I once held broken pieces
Of a heart empty and cold
And wondered at my hope of repair.
My sadness never ceases
From the warmth it couldn't hold
I threw away the ruins in despair.

My mind prefers the silence
As the purest form of truth
It helps relieve the hurt and the pain.
I'm not afraid of violence
But there isn't any proof
That it redeems a loss for a gain.

My demons cast long shadows
From a soul that's dark and blue
I've made a few mistakes along the way.
I just barely missed the gallows
But deep inside I knew
My final debt would not go unpaid.
