Evening Shadows

Evening Shadows

Cur-eek, cur-eek the rocker moans
There is no other sound,
Just the awful, awful quiet of
That lonely silent room.

Outside the drip of melting snow
Tattoos a window sill,
A flutter and flash of feathers
Streaks a window view.

Darkness in the corners
Spreads with coming night,
Moving, stretching shadows
Devour the fading light.

Cooling hand of evening
Brushes melting snow,
Making icy fingers where
Once the drops did flow.

Darker now the night
The futile day is done,
The cur-eeking chair
No longer moves
All still, all still and quiet.

*this is a very rough draft...just tell me what you think. thanx...jenn
