Ardor's Elixir

Ardor's Elixir

Can I convince you

that I breathe your breath

warm and fierce,

red and stale like death?

I suck it in with force

and feel it float

soflty in my throat

Then your essence

takes its course

and, God, it pains

as you travel through my veins,

and I watch my pulse,

my armhairs stand on end-

See my spine arch, see it bend?

Then I feel so cold

as I lay cucumber slices

on my swollen eyes

and feel your lips rise

and open like a rose

upon my thighs,

then down to my toes...

I forget that lies are lies.

I remember sweet nothings

and your syrup voice

(As if I had a choice).

Then, I feel so strong

when I convince you

that I believed you all along.
