Autumn Thoughts

Autumn Thoughts

She looks out her window
one clear autumn morning
as she waits for a friend to come by
while her mind turns to thoughts
of the love of her life
who’s as outgoing as she is shy

She leans her head sadly
against the window sill
and in the chilly breeze
her thoughts are a bitter pill

She longs for an old
childhood friend
To ask her to be his girl
She longs for this old
childhood friend
To make her the light of his world

If only his feelings
weren’t quite so fraternal
She’d give him the chance
to love her eternal
