Thawing Heart

Thawing Heart

When I first met you, I was dead inside
Never did I imagine, that you’d be the one to bring me back to life
Now as I stand here, looking round, I cannot help but feel
Dazed , confused, wondering if this is real
My heart was dormant, from use of neglect
Love was an emotion, I could never detect
But now as I’m here, by your side
Things are being awakened inside.
I feel warmth, flow throughout me
My eyes are seeing the beauty I never let myself see
And what I see before me, truly, is you.
And I wonder, why I never saw this before
Was it because I denied myself the joy?
Was it because I knew not how to handle such thoughts
I truly do not know.
All I know is that I can now, and I do with great joy.
