Hymn of Rejection

Hymn of Rejection

I've watched, as the flames slowly went out
And the life we once had, turned slowly cold
What took its place, was heartache and pain
Caused by deception, induced by shame

Where did it all begin?
Was the start the end?
I never saw this coming until it was too late
Like all the heartache songs of the past, this one's no different

Was it because we didn't talk, about the obvious
Or was it 'cause we talked too much?
I didn't want this to happen. And niether did you.
Or am I assuming about your intent

Where did it all begin
This pain that resides in us?
When will it go away, or is it here to stay?
I don't want to escape, I gotta find a remedy

So here I am, waiting for the end
Of everything we've built, for it all to crumble down
Will it happen quickly, or will it happen slowly
Like everything else that has occured?

Can you see what this has done to me?
Can you see what it has done to you?
Now I'm tired of playing the fool
And finally, I realize, there was no me and you.
