When I Looked at the Moon

When I Looked at the Moon

When I looked at the Moon
I saw her breast, full, hanging low
Flushed orange and red with love
And lust.

Two breasts, one Moon.
All the same to me, there couldn’t be
Anything different. A good lapsed Catholic,
Three into one, the math was easy.
For me. Not so much for her.

I howled at one Moon; she couldn’t believe it.
Searching the sky constantly for other orbs.
Seek and ye will find, and she did.
But I still see her in that Moon, rising over desert
And the Hindu Kush.

A parting gift or terminal illness,
I just want to see the moon.
