My Gift

My Gift

She believes in the magic of Christmas.
She believes elephants can fly.
She is little Emily who
probably will not live to be five.
Her imagination is filled with gold.
Her heart is that of an old soul.
Her smile lights up a city.
Never has she been the recipient of pity.
She is a sage; a teacher of truth.
She speaks of love without rebuke.
The little angel is a gift.
My redheaded Emily caused
my world to shift.
Love I now receive because
Emily has helped me to believe.
