one diva at a time

one diva at a time

She wears her striped fedora
like a crown,
only lower,
black brim hovering mysteriously
over precious pearl eyes
that flash flirtatiously
through lashes freshly waxed…

makings of my diva…

and auburn accents streak
down strands of perm
like mini bolts of lightning
through midnight,
tracing my heart
around caramel cheekbones
blushed high
over lips from the Motherland
lush with the promise of
exotic eroticism…

makings of my diva…

a plush purple shawl
haggled from a Cairo bazaar
hangs with casual disdain
from her slender shoulders
swanned gracefully
by a delicious Erithrean neckline
the envy of every Covergirl wannabe
from Seattle to Sicily…

makings of my diva…

her regal posture
and purposeful stride
grabs my roving eye
as an apple pie
would a fly…

makings of my…

my head spins reflexively,
stunned by the smack of wifey’s tongue
and I hastily sweep my drool
under the façade of marital bliss
where there’s only room for...

one diva at a time!
