She is gone. Not forever, not for long, but she is gone. She has left my side for only a moment, but alas, this moment lasts an eternity. Every second that is forced to pass without her embraced with my arms, the shadows within my heart creep closer and closer. She is the only one that keeps them at bay, these shadows of isolation. When she leaves, it is as if she takes a piece of me with her, and leaves me with a slice of her soul, something to hold onto while she is gone. But even with this slice, this piece of the one I love planted firmly within my very being, the shadows creep, for when she is gone, there is always a piece of me missing…

She returns. She is safe within my grasp once again. This moment of return brings with it not only joy and complete and utter happiness, but it returns the piece of me that was lost. As this segment is reconnected with my soul, a warmth gradually grows inside as if the sun is slowly rising upon my being and warming me from the inside. At the moment this warmth reaches its peak, a special event happens, my soul becomes complete again as does hers, and when these two powerful entities are complete, they do not like to be apart. Once whole again, they intertwine within each other until they are not recognizable as two separate spirits, but solely as one.

Each time this occurrence of separation and return happens to be a step in our lives, our souls fuse tighter and tighter together and our love grows exponentially greater, making it harder and harder to leave once again. It is a vicious cycle when she is gone, when she leaves even for only moment, but it must be done. Out of each new separation grows love. While this may be true, it does not make it easier for when she leaves. For when she is gone.

Please review my poem if you read it. Any critique helps at all. If you review mine, I will review one of your poems. Also feel free to review any of my other stuff please. Thank you.
