Sunbeam the Only Witness

Sunbeam the Only Witness

I see Juliet, laying before me.
Sleep has hold of her frame.
Her auburn hair, glittering gold in the sunlight,
streaming into the room uninvited.
Pondering thoughts am I, my mind is a torrent.
While her''s is silent, save for the dream-scape she is in.
I have lived the lives of many men,
have seen things that burn my heart.
I have seen death, I have seen life.
I have felt the pain of a broken heart.
I have been the creator of such pain as well.
Death''s cold grip has grasped my soul,
if only for a moment, frozen in time.
Juliet has opened doors, and closed others,
to the soul, to the mind, to the heart,
which some would argue is the soul,
while others, it is the mind.
She stirs, a sigh, a smile forms.
Her eyes open, and it is mine that she sees.
"Good morn, Little One."
"Hello, kind Sir."
The sun is streaming in, uninvited,
on her auburn hair.

-Poems are not just words written on papers. First, they were words, written in minds, and on hearts.-
