I do not know how to get close to him
I examine his outer layers
with fingers probing, pressing
against his cautious resistance
that he has built with skilled and bloodied hands that
he holds up to me
I am still

He will not crumble
under the weight of my stare
and my whispered "I love you"
Does he believe me?
He is silent, unmoving
I do not like silences
when I know that they are awkward
I try and fill the void
but my words escape me

He waits for revelations from me
Some truth that he will turn over in his hands
and scatter like dust
I could ask him bothersome questions
that would make him inpatient and tongue tied
I could push him away
to see if he would push me back
I know that he will

We are complicated,
afraid to let what happens
He is silent and
I am still

~Thou shalt have an everlasting Monday and stand in the moon~
