painted words

painted words

im painting a picture with words in my mind
in colors which words will rarely describe
an angry sea of faded blue
and a lonely lighthouse threaded through

seeping watercolors outlining each stroke
while the dirty cloth canvas blurs my hopes
and falling snow turns into birds
my eyes follow it down and i lose my words

beneath the corroded golden frame
and the tacky brass plate with the paintings name
is a blissful glow i dare not call light
for its radiance feels peaceful as night

im choking my way through every last word
attempting to paint in a tongue ive not heard
i found painted words in the sea of faded blue
but my frail words fall short at this picture of you
