A Poem to Tom

A Poem to Tom

Breathe in the air I feed to you.

Once water fills each lung,

When you’re six feet under the tears you’ve weeped,

And taste salt on your tongue.

Wrap your arms around my body

As I’ve done to you before.

Weave your fingers between mine,

And I’ll guide you back to shore.

I’ll be your oxygen if you will be mine.

Our breath is in sync when our lips intertwine.

Forget all the thoughts that spin through your head.

Pretend we are lying still in my bed.

Graze your fingers down my back.

My eyes will slowly close.

I’ll press my palm against your cheek.

Our souls become exposed.

Like a bridge over a creek

Or in a sad sweet song,

I’ll cross over to euphoria

And you can come along.

I’ll be your oxygen if you will be mine.

We share one breath and the feeling’s divine.

Forget all the thoughts taking over your head.

Picture your future with me instead.
